Douglas A. Jorden

DougDouglas Jorden practices in the areas of land use, zoning, municipal law, real estate, environmental and Indian law. Mr. Jorden's clients include a publicly-traded waste management company, local governments, developers, an industrial park located on Indian land, and other persons with real estate, land use, and environmental concerns. Mr. Jorden received his B.A. in 1972 and his J.D. in 1976 from the University of Arkansas, and is admitted to practice in Arizona, Arkansas, California and Colorado. Mr. Jorden was town attorney in Paradise Valley, Arizona from 1978 to 1982. He currently serves as Zoning Hearing Officer for the City of Phoenix. Mr. Jorden has served as Chair of the City of Phoenix Environmental Quality Commission and Chair of the State Bar of Arizona Continuing Legal Education Committee. He also is on the Regional Advisory Board of the Rocky Mountain Land Use Institute based in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Jorden is co-author of Arizona Land Use Law, the treatise on Arizona zoning and land use law published by the State Bar of Arizona. In addition, he has lectured on land use and environmental issues on behalf of the State Bar of Arizona, the Arizona Planning Association, the League of Arizona Cities and Towns, the Arizona Department of Commerce and the Rocky Mountain Land Use Institute. Mr. Jorden's professional affiliations include the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Arizona, the Arkansas Bar Association, the State Bar of California, the Colorado Bar Association, the Maricopa County Bar Association, the American Planning Association and the Arizona Planning Association.

Charles A. Bischoff

ChuckCharles Bischoff practices in the areas of environmental and natural resources law. Mr. Bischoff received his B.S. in electrical engineering from Valparaiso University in 1968, his M.S. in nuclear engineering from the University of New Mexico in 1970, and his J.D. from the University of Arizona in 1978, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Arizona Law Review. He is licensed to practice law in Arizona and Nevada. He regularly represents clients in manufacturing, public utilities, paper products, construction, and chemical-related industries. Prior to attending law school he worked for five years as a nuclear engineer with the Southern California Edison Company. Mr. Bischoff is a registered professional engineer in California in nuclear engineering. He is a member of the Environmental and Natural Resources Section of the State Bar of Arizona and the Air and Waste Management Association, where he served as chairman of the Arizona Chapter and Grand Canyon Section, and on the Section's Board of Directors. He is a member of the Environment Committee of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and served as chairman of its Air Quality Subcommittee for three years. He also served in 1996-1997 as a member of the Governor's Air Quality Strategies Task Force. Mr. Bischoff is a frequent lecturer at symposia and seminars and the author of numerous articles on environmental matters, and was a contributing author to the Arizona Environmental Law Manual, published by the State Bar of Arizona.

Eric L. Hiser

EricEric Hiser practices in the areas of environmental, natural resources and administrative law. Mr. Hiser received his A.B. (summa cum laude) from Wabash College in 1986, his M.A. in forestry and environmental studies and J.D. (with high honor and Order of the Coif) from Duke University in 1989, where he was Managing Editor of the Duke Law Journal. He subsequently served as a law clerk for the Honorable Deanell Reece Tacha of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He is licensed to practice in Arizona, New Mexico and Wyoming, and before the U.S. District Courts for Arizona, Alabama and the Tenth and Eleventh Circuits. He regularly represents clients in manufacturing, steel, petroleum, natural gas production and transmission, mining, metal fabrication, high technology and materials industries with an emphasis on permitting, compliance planning and environmental auditing and assessment, and has served as special counsel to the Maricopa County Air Pollution Control Hearing Board. Mr. Hiser is a member of the Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice Section and the Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Section of the American Bar Association, where he serves as Vice Chair of the Environmental Enforcement and Environmental Crimes Committee and a southwestern regional editor for the Air Quality Committee. He a member of the Environmental and Natural Resources Law Section and Administrative Law Section of the State Bar of Arizona and is past chair of the Administrative Law Section. Mr. Hiser is a frequent lecturer at both national and regional symposia and seminars, the author of numerous articles on environmental matters, and was a contributing author to the Arizona Environmental Law Manual, published by the State Bar of Arizona, and environmental practice manuals for Arizona and South Carolina.

Matthew Joy

MattMatthew Joy practices in the areas of environmental and natural resources and litigation. Mr. Joy received his B.A. in geology from Cornell University in 1994 and his J.D. from Arizona State University. He is licensed to practice law in Arizona, and regularly represents clients in manufacturing, heavy industry, mining, and petroleum and natural gas industries. He is a member of the State Bar of Arizona and has lectured at Arizona State University.

Elizabeth A. Alongi

BetsyElizabeth Alongi practices in the areas of land use, zoning, municipal law, real estate and Indian law. Ms. Alongi received her B.A. (cum laude) at Benedictine College in 1992 and her J.D. (cum laude) at the University of Arizona in 2004 where she served as a managing editor of the Arizona Law Review. Ms. Alongi served as a law clerk for the Honorable James B. Sult of the Arizona Court of Appeals. Ms. Alongi is a member of the State Bar of Arizona.

J. Christopher Vamos

ChrisJ. Christopher Vamos practices in the areas of environmental, natural resources and hazardous materials transportation law. Mr. Vamos received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Delaware in 1989 and his J.D. (cum laude) and Master of Studies in Environmental Law (summa cum laude) from Vermont Law School in 1994. He is a member of the State Bar of Arizona. Mr. Vamos regularly represents clients in manufacturing, steel, petroleum and natural gas industries. Prior to joining Jorden Bischoff & Hiser, Mr. Vamos managed environmental and hazardous materials transportation programs for a major semiconductor manufacturer.
