Environmental and Natural Resources
Jorden Bischoff & Hiser attorneys have substantial experience in the areas of Clean Air Act regulation and permitting (including Title V, new source review and hazardous air pollutants), Clean Water Act regulation and permitting (including NPDES, storm water and Section 404 permits), aquifer protection and wastewater reuse regulation and permitting, federal and state Superfund and remediation laws, hazardous and solid waste management, asbestos, lead, and PCB regulation, and the defense of federal, state and local environmental enforcement actions. Jorden Bischoff & Hiser attorneys also provide assistance to clients with facility compliance audits, as well as real estate environmental assessments.
Real Estate, Land Use, and Zoning
A significant part of the firm's practice focuses on real estate and land use matters. The firm is involved in various complex and simple real estate matters, including the buying and selling of properties (vacant and developed), leasing, preparation of CC&R's, formation of homeowners associations and title insurance. Land-use activities include involvement in master planning, zoning, variances and use permits, development agreements, building permit matters, design review issues and various other entitlements and development approvals.
Governmental Relations/Lobbying
Jorden Bischoff & Hiser attorneys are involved in governmental relations at the state and local level and have been active in drafting proposed legislation and in negotiating and commenting on administrative rules and regulations. They have counseled clients on community relations relative to a broad spectrum of development projects and legislative and regulatory matters. Jorden Bischoff & Hiser attorneys work with national and local trade associations and formal and informal coalitions on legislative and regulatory issues, and are active in organizations such as the Air & Waste Management Association, the Arizona Planning Association, the Arizona Bar Association Section on Natural Resources, Energy, and Environmental Law, state and local Chambers of Commerce and the Arizona Association of Industries.

Over the years, the firm has had substantial experience in a broad range of matters generally characterized as business law. From over 25 mergers and acquisitions for a Fortune 500 company to the negotiation of complex coal supply and transportation agreements for a major manufacturing facility, the firm has been involved in drafting and negotiating numerous contracts covering a broad range of subjects.
Indian Law
The firm has substantial experience in Indian law issues. It represents a major industrial park located on Indian land and has litigation experience in several tribal courts. The focus of the firm's Indian law practice relates to business activities on Indian lands, with an emphasis on the leasing of Indian lands. |
